Prayer is a very important aspect of one’s Christian walk. It is the foundation on which your relationship with God is built and grown upon. Without it, we would not be able to communicate effectively with God. Christians are told by Paul to “pray continually” in 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
If you have found yourself, like so many of us Christians have, at a point where we don’t know what to pray for, take a look at this to help give you some guidance for your prayers. This was adapted from a handout a friend of mine gave to his youth group in order to help them pray more effectively.
- Praise God because of his Holiness, Righteousness, Power, and for giving us The Cross. Psalm 100:1-5
- Ask God to give you strength, wisdom, guidance and discernment for the situations and decisions in your life. Psalm 46:1, James 1:5, Psalm 25:4-5
- Intercede for your family and friends that are lost or have strayed from the Lord. Let their eyes be opened. 2 Corinthians 4:4
- Pray for your enemies and those whom you have resentment and bitterness towards. Let God cleanse your heart. Matthew 5:44, Proverbs 25:21
- Pray for all believers that we are faithful to the Lord, that we grow in Christ, and that we may be able to effectively reach out to the lost. John 14:27, Proverbs 21:13,
- Allow the joy of the Lord to be your strength. Enjoy fellowship with loved ones and care for one another as Christ cared for us. Ephesians 4:32, Galatians 6:2, Proverbs 27:17
I hope this list will offer you some guidance on your daily prayers. I know I found it to be useful. Let me know what you think. Do you have any others tips to fellow Christians on guidance for their prayers?
